How to prepare the Moka - The ultimate guide
Making coffee with a moka is an Italian tradition that has been handed down from generation to generation. This method of preparing coffee grants intense aroma and creaminess. In this article, we’re going to show you how to make it to perfection.
Before you begin, make sure you have all the ingredients you need, including: moka pot, ground coffee, water, and a cup (if you want to do it Italian, go with a porcelain one!).
1. Choose the right coffee: Ground coffee should be high quality, otherwise… Buying coffee beans and grinding them yourself is a perfect connoisseur way to get the best flavor. But don’t disrespect ground coffee! Choose a nice blend and store it with caution, so you’ll have the perfect ally to your moka!
2. Fill the moka pot: Fill the bottom tank of the moka pot with hot water, up to the level of the safety valve. Make sure you don't exceed this level, otherwise your coffee will be too watery. Then, add the ground coffee to the moka filter. BEWARE! Don’t press it too hard.
3. Assemble the moka: Place the filter with the ground coffee in the lower tank of the moka and screw the upper tank. Make sure it is securely attached.
4. Put the moka on the fire: Put the moka on the fire over medium-low heat. Make sure the lid is up. Then, when the coffee starts to come out of the central tube, you will close the lid and turn off the fire. Wait until the moka stops bubbling, then stir the coffee with a spoon.
That's it, your moka coffee is ready!
Remember: different blends, roasting and quantities of coffee will give you different results. Try different combinations and find out the one that is perfect for you!
After all, nothing is more Italian then doing things with your heart. Discover your way towards real Italian coffee.
